Nathan Fillion Wants To Find Drake’s Fortune

15 Oct

by Captain Oblivious

Well this sounds familiar. Seems about a year ago I did a bit of fantasy casting for the Uncharted movie and while I ultimately said Chris Pine would be a great Nathan Drake I though Nathan Fillion would be awesome also.

Seems Fillion thinks that also. He is on a very public campaign to try and get the lead role in the upcoming movie based on the very popular Playstation video game. And where do you begin a grassroots campaign for anything these days? Why Twitter of course. Fillion wants his 650,000 fans to champion his cause and I for one am with him. He would be the not so obvious but nonetheless amazing choice to take over this hopefully soon to be franchise.

Bioshock: Infinite Gameplay May Make You Forget All About Rapture.

22 Sep

by Captain Oblivious

HO….LY…..CRAP.

I was blown away by the Bioshock: Infinite trailer a few months ago but this…..this is simply amazing. Ten minutes of gameplay that blurs the line between cinema and shooting that it is hard to tell where the player is being controlled. Ken Levine and Irrational is looking to make another leap in gaming as they did with the first Bioshock.

The airborne city of Columbia is in stark contrast to Rapture. Squeaky clean and bright instead of dank and wet. I think I could keep typing about all I saw in this 10 minute footage. But I think you should experience it for yourself.

Bioshock: Infinite will be released in 2012.

DUKE NUKEM FOREVER IS REAL!! Really…..I’m Serious….Why Are You Laughing?

3 Sep

by Captain Oblivious

You done? Have a good laugh? Ok for real I am being serious. The game was just unveiled at the PAX 2010 event and is even playable! Better yet Gearbox (fresh off the amazingly awesome Borderlands) is finishing up the project which has now been in some type of development for 13 years.

This is the Chinese Democracy of video games. As long as Duke doesn’t get corn rows and take on a sidekick named Buckethead I think we’ll all be fine. Duke Nukem Forever will release next year for Playstation, XBox 360 and PC so if you had money in the office pool of what would happen first Duke Nukem Forever releasing or December 21, 2012 you are SOL buddy.

New Batman: Arkham City Screen Grabs Do Not Make The Year Long Wait Easier

3 Sep

by Captain Oblivious

I loved Batman: Arkham Asylum. Loved…..it. In fact if you read my top games of the decade you know that it is on that list. It is hands down the greatest super hero game ever made and is one of the finest action games crafted. So when a teaser trailer was released last December for the sequel, the recently named Arkham City, I thought surely the game can’t be that far along. But I held hope for a quick turnaround and was disappointed when Eidos announced that we would not see the next Batman adventure until Fall 2011.

These first screens do nothing to help the matter but still thanks for the thought Eidos.

It seems in the wake of the Joker’s actions in Arkham Asylum Quincy Sharp has used fear to win the mayoral election and has turned one of the lesser corners of Gotham into a city for Arkham patients. The game starts with Two-Face kidnapping Catwoman and Batman having to follow them down into the depths of this newly christened madhouse.

These first screens show off Catwoman and Two-Face as well as the returning Harley Quinn who gets a new makeover. Take a look at the Bat-goodness!

Captain’s Pick 3- September 2010

1 Sep

by Captain Oblivious

Welcome to a new post that I will be doing every month. I will pick three random things from the world of movies, games, sports and pop culture that should have your attention. Let us know what is on your radar this month also by commenting below and let the people know what will be occupying your time as fall rolls in.

3. Playstation Move

While Microsoft may have a few more months before unleashing their controller-less fat guy hating Kinect on the world Sony is ready to toss their hat into the motion sensing controller ring this month. Time will only tell if this will be a leap or a midget step beyond what the Wii offers now to the arm flailing video game crowd. Early reviews have been mostly favorable and while I do have a Move reserved I am thinking of holding off until more of the premier titles make their way onto Sony’s powerhouse like Socom or Killzone 3. But being the nerd that I am I will probably be playing Sports Champions by the end of the month.

2. Machete

Robert Rodriguez continues to be one of the few directors that listens to the fans. After Grindhouse came out over three years ago people kept talking about how awesome it would be to have a movie based on one of the faux movie trailers that were inserted between the features. And while I would have loved to see a Werewolf Women of the SS movie Rodriguez decided that he should craft a movie around Danny Trejo’s Machete character. The thing that surprised everyone was the cast that Rodriguez assembled including Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodriguez, Steven Segal and Robert DeNiro. Get ready to swing down the intestine line (if that makes no sense, after seeing the movie, it will) on Labor Day weekend.

1. Football

You know I can always find some way to insert a picture of Tim Tebow somewhere. It has been seven long months but us sports fans have made it to that time of year where things seem a little brighter because football is back. Fantasy leagues, lazy Sunday afternoons and Saturday kickoffs are here people. Get excited!

New Halo: Reach Trailer Delivers A Lot Of Covenant Father-less Homes.

30 Aug

by Captain Oblivious

Here is some more Halo commercial goodness that will make you sad there won’t be a Halo movie until people stop caring about Halo. Which means summer of 2021. I do believe I like this one more than the ODST trailer that was released. I just hope it’s not a curse like the last one with the commercial being awesome and the game completely disappointing me.
