1. Shigeru Miyamoto shows off the new Zelda game called Skyward Sword. It will release in 2011 and features Wii Motion Plus to give you as close to 1:1 sword movement as possible. The graphics are in the same style as Twilight Princess but has a little lighter feel. Miyamoto had some control issues in the demo but says that the hands on this week will be fine.
2. Reggie Fils-Aime introduces a quick lineup of Wii sport games including Madden 11, MLB 2k10 and the new NBA Jam which will be playable on the floor. But this was only a segue to Reggie introducing Mario Sports Mix which looks to combine volleyball, basketball, dodgeball and others into one big Wii orgy.
3. Wii Party is introduced. Have you played Wii Sports? Wii Sports Resort? Wii Play? Then you have a good idea about what’s going on.
4. Just Dance 2 is announced. Makes sense since 3 million people (i.e. morons) bought the first game.
5. A new Golden Sun title called Dark Dawn is revealed. It has stylus controlled puzzles and turn based battles in 3D. It will release this Christmas.
6. Goldeneye is returning. And not as a crappy game called Rogue Agent either. Activision is remaking the original game complete with four player online and split screen multiplayer. Also returning are the classic Bond characters from the original such as Oddjob, Jaws and Scaramanga. It will release this fall and I have high hopes but high hopes are easily crapped on.
7. Warren Spector comes out and shows off some Epic Mickey. Game looks waaay better than the first screens a few months back. It even has and old black and white level that looks like the old Steamboat Willie cartoon. Should be a fun addition to the Disney family.
8. Finally Kirby is back in Kirby’s Epic Yarn. A side scrolling adventure that makes the world appear to be made of fabric where you can pull and tear at places to bridge gaps and attack enemies. It really is an interesting looking game. I will post up the video as soon as I can.
9. Dragon Quest 9 is coming July 11 with over 120 mini quests and over 300 different monsters. For some reason I don’t think people will take off work here like they do in Japan for it.
10. Metroid: Other M is up next and it still looks different and amazing. Back to third person complete with morph balls and all the Metroid stuff you love.
11. What to say about this…..it’s DONKEY KONG COUNTRY!! Awesome! A brand new game made jusy for the Wii. Nothing extraordinarily different. It it is still a side scroller with all the best things you remember from DKC including Diddy.
12. Well there it is. The Nintendo 3DS. The 3D system with no need for glasses. Don’t ask me how but Nintendo has apparently achieved this feat. And the first thing you might notice is the inclusion of an analog stick and it seems they have paid attention to the complaints of PSP owners fed up with analog nubs. It has a good wide base and that is welcome for fat fingered gamers such as me.
Both widescreens are 3.5 inches with the top screen being the only 3D screen. The bottom screen like all other DS’s is a touch screen. Two cameras are on the outside of the unit for 3D pictures. It also has a motion sensor and a gyro scope for all you IPhone game addicts that can’t get enough turning your phone to steer.
The 3DS will be the first system to offer the ability to watch full 3D movies including Disney and Dreamworks’. Also without the need for glasses. I gotta get a look at one of these things because there is no way to give an accurate account until we actually touch one.
The first game for 3DS is announced and it is an oldie but a goodie…..Kid Icarus! Kid Icarus: Uprising to be exact. It is a full 3D game with 3D combat and flight. I’m glad Nintendo is dusting off this classic. I’m loving this. First Kirby and now Kid Icarus. Awesome!
The 3DS also comes with built in Wi-Fi and Nintendo will not charge a dime for online access through the 3DS.
They announce that there is a line of third party companies lining up to develop for the 3DS. Here are some of the games in development right now by the third parties.
– DJ Hero 3D
– Kingdom Hearts 3D
– Saints Row
– Madden NFL
– Street Fighter
– Ridge Racer
– Dead or Alive
– Ninja Gaiden
– Metal Gear Solid
– Resident Evil
Wow….talk about blowing the box out. Nintendo brought it today big time. Microsoft just got left in the wake of Nintendo’s awesomeness.
I can not wait to see the 3DS.
