TNA Victory Road 2010 Results

12 Jul

by: Captain Oblivious

Ever notice how TNA refers to every single PPV as epic? Doesn’t that kind of take away from the epicness of the word epic? Anyway I digress.

1. Douglas Williams defeated Brian Kendrick in an Ultimate X match where submissions could be used to win.

Both guys spent time trying to submit each other so it looked like the ultimate X was just there to be like a belt hanging Christmas tree.

2. Brother Ray defeated Brother Devon and Jesse Neal in a triple threat match.

Ray gets his loss back from last month and we are nearing the eleventh 3D breakup.

3. Angelina Love defeated Madison Rayne to win the Knockouts Title.

Rayne could lose the title by DQ which happened when someone rode out on a motorcycle and attacked Love. I knew Chuck Palumbo was hanging around somewhere.

4. A.J. Styles and Kazarian defeated Rob Terry and Samoa Joe.

Styles and Kazarian impress Flair and Terry takes the pin so Joe still looks strong.

5. Hernandez defeated Matt Morgan in a steel cage match.

Morgan controls most of the match but Hernandez gets the revenge win for the whole “hey you kicked my face” angle.

6. Jay Lethal defeated Ric Flair

The Wrestlemania 24 match continues to mean less and less. Flair as a mouthpiece is fine but when he is used to elevate mid card guys it is a shame.

7. MMG defeated Beer Money for the TNA Tag Team Championship

Finally the two best tag teams in TNA wrestle for the titles. Let’s hope this begins a long feud between them.

8. Kurt Angle defeated The Pope.

Angle continues his rise through the ranks and Pope gives a good showing. With Angle’s real retirement talk does anyone else think he will lose when he finally reaches number one?

9. RVD defeated Abyss, Jeff Hardy and Mr. Anderson to retain the TNA World Heavyweight Championship.

RVD continues his ride at the top as Abyss keeps wanting to murder people with a nail filled board.

WWE Fatal Four Way Results

21 Jun

by: Captain Oblivious

The new Fatal Four Way PPV debuted last night replacing The Bash (formerly The Great American Bash) and it seemed like the WWE wanted to make the first one memorable with three title changes including both world titles.

The Kane and NXT storylines also took center stage in both title matches as Kane came out during the world title match with a coffin and chased down CM Punk and the NXT rookies once again attacked John Cena costing him the title.

1. Kofi Kingston defeated Drew McIntyre to retain the Intercontinental Championship

– Matt Hardy got involved and hit McIntyre with a Twist of Fate and Kofi retained. I like that McIntyre’s multiple feuds are now costing him and that Kofi retained. It seemed like Kingston hit a wall after his Orton feud was done and the move to Smackdown and IC title reign is getting him back up there.

2. Alicia Fox defeated Eve, Maryse and Gail Kim to win the Divas Championship

– Does anyone really care? The Raw divas are unwatchable and Beth Phoenix is injured on SD leaving LayCool as champs. Seriously WWE scrap the division…..for a while.

3. Evan Bourne defeated Chris Jericho.

– Why was this just thrown on the PPV? Would it be so hard to have taken five minutes on Raw to have Bourne accept a Jericho challenge? Anyway Bourne’s push keeps on chugging which is great with a clean pin over Jericho.

4. Rey Mysterio defeated Big Show, Jack Swagger and CM Punk to win the World Heavyweight Championship

– Wow…there are a few ways WWE could go with this. Do they take the logical route and have Mysterio continue his feud with Punk only this time with higher stakes or do they go off center and reveal Rey as the man who injured Taker (like he really did) and go with a heel Rey? Hmmm.

5. The Miz defeated R-Truth to retain the United States Championship

– Good call here. Truth carried the belt well but Miz has been money for the better part of a year and having the face chase the title always works out better.

6. The Hart Dynasty and Natalya defeated The Uso’s and Tamina.

– As far as I know this was just an intergender tag match. It was not for the titles so I don’t see why The Uso’s could not get the victory here to help out there push. The Harts are champs but not getting over and a loss with a beatdown afterward may have created some sympathy for them and make people care about them beating The Uso’s down the road. Of course I am thinking of 80’s wrestling which still held onto a little bit of logic.

7. Sheamus defeated John Cena, Randy Orton and Edge to win the WWE Championship

– Great days are her again! Not only did Cena lose but my boy Sheamus pinned him again! I may not like Cena but I like him better when he does not have the title and he has to work his way back to it. Next up should be Cena going through the NXT rookies one by one for costing him the title and Sheamus should move on to a feud with Orton with Edge interjecting himself.

TNA Slammiversary 8 Results

by: Captain Oblivious

Has it been eight years really? Wow time sure does fly when your a small blip on every radar except real wrestling fans. Behind Bound For Glory and Lockdown this is TNA’ biggest PPV of the year so I guess this would be the equivalent of like Summerslam? Who knows. Anyway here what went down.

1. Kurt Angle defeated Kazarian.

-Only nine more guys to go through Kurt!

2. Douglas Williams defeated Brian Kendrick

– Yeah you should know by now that missing an Impact is like missing Lost. Somebody changes from heel to face or vice versa almost every week. Kendrick is good now….deal.

3. Madison Rayne defeated Roxxi to retain the Knockouts Title.

– Roxxi put her career on the line and now has to go the way of Tara. And I know that the Knockouts division has had some injuries but there has got to be a better titleholder than Rayne.

4. Jesse Neal defeated Brother Ray

– Ray had the upper hand until someone in the audience looked familiar.

That would distract me too. Not just cause it’s Tommy Dreamer but because he looks like he’s on a coke bender.

5. Matt Morgan defeated Hernandez by DQ.

Hernandez threw a ref down and got DQ’ed. Yea that’s what should have ended the match not Hernandez beating Morgan violently or anything. Cmon TNA people buy PPV’s to see feuds come to a head.

6. Abyss defeated Desmond Wolfe in a Monster’s Ball match.

– Chelsea turned on Wolfe and help Abyss get the win. Surprise! Oh wait I mean……meh.

7. Jay Lethal defeated A.J. Styles.

– Lethal’s push should be almost up. It has been almost a month. And that a good push for TNA. He will be dressed like Macho again in like three weeks.

8. Jeff Hardy and Mr. Anderson defeated Beer Money

– Beer Money…..(shakes head)…..I don’t know what to say guys. I’m….sorry. But that doesn’t make the past three months go away I know.

9. RVD defeated Sting to retain the TNA Championship.

– Alright! RVD vs. Sting! Some say a “dream match”. Oh wait there Jeff Jarrett doing a run-in. You would think I would learn from TNA but no. Foiled again.

WWE RAW Results- 06/07/10

by: Captain Oblivious

1. Bret Hart and Teddy Long came out like bosom buddies and welcomed everyone to the first ever viewer’s choice Monday Night RAW. Long said that all four main eventers at Fatal Four Way would be wrestling tonight and that the viewer’s would be picking their opponents.

Randy Orton came out and demanded that Edge come out because Orton’s shoulder was still a little sore from last week and he wanted to make Edge hurt some. Teddy Long said he had an idea and whispered in Bret’s ear. After the GM’s were done with their girl time Teddy said that Randy Orton would face Edge and the live audience would decide the stipulation.

Long gave them the option of a debate, a sit-up contest or a one armed match. Since no one cares about two men doing sit-ups (unless your kinda fruity which is cool) and no one has had a good debate on Raw since Scott Steiner debated La Resistance  the audience went with the one armed match.

Teddy then took up more of Bret’s mic time by announcing the first match of the night would be Chris Jericho vs. Big Show and during the commercial the viewer’s could choose between a over the top rope challenge, a submission match and a body slam challenge. Body slam challenge won the vote.

2. Big Show defeated Chris Jericho in a bodyslam challenge. Nothing special between these two. Show easily won when he slammed Jericho. He then put Jericho in his version of the camel clutch and Jericho tapped out. The just to make sure he had won all three of the choices he threw Jericho over the top rope.

The Hart Dynasty waitd in the ring to see who they would face between The Uso’s, The Dudebusters and The Great Khali and Hornswaggle. I may be the only person in America that finds The Dudebusters kind of funny. But of course Khali and Mini-Finlay won.

3. The Hart Dynasty defeated The Great Khali and Hornswaggle. Khali basically destroyed Kidd then tagged in Hornswaggle who missed the tadpole splash and Kidd pinned him. This is where the viewer’s choice has a problem because The Harts actually did nothing to Hornswaggle but people were booing them after they pinned him.

After the match the Uso’s ran out but this time it was the Hart’s getting the better of them but the crowd was already dead from seeing their favorite midget lose. Too little, too late (pun intended).

(And FYI I won’t be wasting my time typing about all of the “A-Team” skits that happened.)

We find out that Santino Marella will face off against Vladimir Koslov in either a singles match, an arm wrestling contest or a dance off. Dance off won with like 2000% of the vote.

4. Vladimir Koslov defeated Santino in a dance off. I was just happy Koslov did the Russian dance like Zangief in Street Fighter 2.

You could vote for a divas match but all the choices sucked.

5. Maryse won a 12 diva battle royal. Yep. That’s about it.

Sheamus comes out to the ring and waits for his opponent. It is between Mark Henry, Kane and Evan Bourne. 88% vote for Kane and Evan Bourne gets to sit all alone in the locker room after the great episode last week.

6. Kane defeated Sheamus by countout. Not a great match but not bad for two big guys. Neither guy should have really wrestled each other anyway because they are both in the middle of a push. But they did the right thing by having Sheamus get counted out after a chokeslam by Kane. Neither needed to take a pin.

R-Truth will have the WWE fans choose his partner and The Miz will have his partner chosen for their tag match. Fans can choose between John Morrison, MVP or Christian and between Dolph Ziggler, William Regal and Zack Ryder for The Miz’s partner. Morrison wins the vote and is Truth’s partner and Ryder is The Miz’s partner.

Woo…Woo…Woo….You know it.

7. The Miz and Zack Ryder defeated Morrison and Truth. Poor Johnny Nitro. I know he’s been injured but this isn’t exactly the welcome back he should have gotten. Dear God he needs to go back to Smackdown and fast. Michaels pins Jannetty….I mean Miz pins Morrison.

Kane keeps questioning everyone in the locker room about who attacked his brother. He confronted Sheamus earlier and questioned Bret Hart also. I think it was DDP.

8. Randy Orton defeated Edge by DQ when Edge used two arms instead of one. Yea read that sentence again and see why this feud stalled this week.

Drew McIntyre came out to face his opponent which was between Yoshi Tatsu (wow he’s still there), Goldust, and a mystery person who vaguely looked like the shadow of Matt Hardy. And by vaguely I mean he put up the V1 symbol and yelled V1! Guess who won the vote?

9. Matt Hardy defeated Drew McIntyre. This was very quick. I think Drew got in one offensive move the Hardy hit him with the Twist of Fate for the victory. Afterward Hardy continued the assault on McIntyre who is now apparently not so chosen anymore.

There was a whole deal going on all night with I.R.S. (yes as in Mike Rotundo), Ted DiBiase and Virgil that they stole Jerry Lawler’s crown and King hired The A-Team to find it. Most of it was bad. So anyway to sum it up Roddy Piper came out to take on B.A. (not Rampage Jackson mind you) just like he took out Mr. T 25 years ago.

Then Dusty Rhodes drives down on a golf cart to save the day. All this happened I sh** you not. You should just go watch it.

John Cena is in the main event tonight (cause that’s different right) and his choices of opponents are Rey Mysterio, Jack Swagger and CM Punk. All night I had already decided that most fans were morons and would vote in Mysterio so imagine my surprise when Punk won the voting. Now I care about the match.

John Cena vs. CM Punk ended in a no contest. Good back and forth match between theses two. In the past when Punk has faced Cena on Raw he has basically been fodder but here it seemed like a true main event.

As Cena has Punk up for the Attitude Adjustment Wade Barrett slowly began walking down the ramp. Cena focused on Barrett inviting him to come on in the ring. Barrett stopped just short and Michael Tarver was shown in the crowd. Then the other six NXT rookies jumped the rail and took out the SES and Punk. They all attacked Cena and then began ripping the ring apart. Skip Sheffield kick Matt Striker’s face off, then the rookies attacked Lawler and ring announcer Justin Roberts. They flipped the announce table over on Lawler and even attacked the timekeeper!

In the ring they took turns attacking Cena. Both Young and Sheffield hit sick looking clotheslines and then Barrett hit his finisher and Gabriel hit the 450 splash. The rookies left and medical personnel came down to check on Cena and Lawler. They put Cena on a stretcher and the show went black as the rolled him off.

Captain’s Chair:

+ The NXT rookies attacking. WOW. Simply WOW. That was so unexpected. I haven’t been that surprised on an episode of Raw since Punk won the title. I loved everything about it. Even Punk coming back in the ring to try and stop the attack made it seem more believable. I love the way they absolutely destroyed everything. The ring, the announce tables even the barraicades and ring mats. It really looked in shambles. Awesome ending.

+ Glad Zack Ryder is getting some TV love lately.

– The viewer’s choice is good on paper but sometimes it just doesn’t pan out. It was a good way to fill three hours I guess but it seemed a little meh.

– Rey Mysterio calling himself the top dog on Smackdown irked me for some reason. Especially with the world champ standing next to him and only a week after he injured the real “top dog” in a match.

Pairings For NXT Season 2

2 Jun

by: Captain Oblivious

Talk about a fast turnaround. Season one ended last night and this Tuesday we get season two. The pairings to say the least are….interesting.

1. Percy Watson coached by MVP

2. Titus O’Neal coached by Zack Ryder

3. Lucky Cannon coached by Mark Henry

4. Husky Harris coached by Cody Rhodes

5. Michael McGillicutty coached by Kofi Kingston

6. Eli Cottonwood coached by John Morrison

7. Kaval coached by LayCool

8. Alex Riley coached by The Miz

Wow. First off I like the rookie talent pool more than the pros. The name changes for Rotundo (Harris) and Hennig (McGillicutty) are beyond moronic. So it’s ok to get Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase over with their family names but not ok with others? What a crock of sh**.

We all know Kaval should own this show but pairing him with LayCool? Jesus H.

Besides Kaval I am already getting behind Alex Riley and Percy Watson. Riley seems like the perfect douchebag fit for The Miz after Daniel Bryan in season one. And Percy Watson seems to play flamboyant without going into Orlando Jordan disturbing territory.

WWE NXT Finale Results

2 Jun

by: Captain Oblivious

Well at least the WWE didn’t try to swerve us any. I kept thinking for weeks that they would have Wade Barrett be number one just to have David Otunga win in the finale but they stuck to their guns.

And surprise, surprise we are getting a second season of NXT…..starting next week! I will go through the new pairings in my next post. Makes season 1 look like Mad Men.

1. Wade Barrett defeated Justin Gabriel and David Otunga in a triple threat match. This match was elimination style with Gabriel hitting the 450 on Otunga but as he was going for the pin Barrett broke it up and pinned Otunga himself. Justin attempted another 450 on Barrett buy got a mid section full of British knees. Barrett rolled him up for the win.

2. The NXT pros voted for the first elimination of the night as Matt Striker asked the eliminated rookies who should win. Daniel Bryan said Barrett should win because Gabriel can’t talk and Otunga can’t wrestle. Michael Tarver said he should win. Sheffield said he didn’t care and the rest voted for Barrett.

3. The first pro poll eliminated Justin Gabriel leaving Otunga and Barrett as the final two.

4. Each rookie was given time to talk and Otunga said the only person Wade intimidates is his dentist. He said he should be in a triple threat match with Listerine and Aqua Fresh (I’ll give that promo a 6 out of 10)

Barrett said that Otunga had an amazing body but no idea how to use it. That the only reason everyone said he had “it” was because he had no qualities to pick out. They should add two letters to “it” and that is what he thinks of Otunga. (That my friends is a promo. 10 out of 10)

5. Before the final pros poll William Regal got into it with almost every pro. He said the only reason Otunga is here is because he married well but then changed his mind and said he has seen his wife so he didn’t marry that well (BURN!).

As the pros argued CM Punk said he has seen enough of everything on NXT and waved and left (God I love Punk).

6. The final pros poll was revealed and the winner of NXT Season 1 was Wade Barrett.

Captain’s Chair:

+ NXT finished strong with their two best episodes in a row. Entertaining almost the entire way through.

+ Wade Barrett should have won and WWE did the right thing by going with the obvious winner.

+ Barrett absolutely DESTROYED Otunga with his promo. This is why the NXT format works even if the show lost it’s way a little. 14 weeks ago no one knew who Wade Barrett was but now he is firmly in the WWE fan’s eyes.

+ The final segmnt with the pros arguing was really good. Regal with a mic is most of the time gold and Punk continues to build a legacy.

WWE Over The Limit Quick Results

24 May

by: Captain Oblivious

Yea this is a quick result why? Because I was watching Lost lst night and didn’t really have time for a PPV. Can I just say though why do they keep having PPV’s in Detroit? The city is dead and normally so are the crowds. Anyway heres what happened in the quick form.

1. Kofi Kingston defeated Drew McIntyre to win the Intercontinental Championship

2. R-Truth defeated Ted DiBiase

3. Rey Mysterio defeated CM Punk in a Hair vs. SES pledge match.

4. The Hart Dynasty defeated The Miz and Chris Jericho.

5. Randy Orton and Edge fought to a double countout.

– Apparently Orton got injured during the match so the may be the reason for the finish.

6. Big Show defeated Jack Swagger by DQ.

7. Eve defeated Mayse to retain the “who gives a damn” belt.

8. John Cena defeatd Batista in an I Quit Match to retain the WWE Championship.

Captain’s Chair:

+ Glad The Hart Dynasty got the win. They will lose them to Mizicho eventually but not a month after the win.

+ Kofi winning was good, maybe too early, but good.

– Mysterio should have gotten the loss to join the SES. That would have been some quality TV until Summerslam where they should have done a hair vs. mask match.
