Batman and Robin…..and Batman

31 Aug

by Captain Oblivious

Grant Morrison keeps the Batman psycho-train rolling on and on. After the R.I.P. storyline which to quote someone “makes about as much sense as putting nips on the Bat-suit” and having Bruce Wayne disappear or die or reincarnate or whatever after Final Crisis, turning him into a time traveler and then…….you know what my brain hurts I am going to stop there.

Long story short Bruce Wayne is back from wherever the heck he was. Maybe he was using a TARDIS to jump from reality to reality I guess we’ll never know but anyway he’s back. And if you thought it was as simple as Dick Grayson (the current Batman) handing over the cape and cowl while he goes back to being Nightwing then your mistaken. Grayson will still be Batman….and so will Bruce Wayne. Yep. Batmen. Oh yeah and Bruce’s son Damien will still be Robin only he will be Robin to Grayson’s Batman not Bruce’s.

By the way if you are really out of the loop yes Bruce Wayne has a son and that is for an even longer post.

Apparently Dick and Damien will be patrolling the streets of Gotham City still while Bruce will take his Batman global. And just so there is no confusion they will wear different costumes. Dick will have the old school black bat and Bruce will have the black and yellow variety. Best yet it seems that traveling through the DeLorean has made Bruce want to take Batman into the franchising business. His global plan will be to have a small army of Batmen thus killing the point of Batman’s whole “what can one man do” thing. So while Dick and Damien swing around Gotham Bruce will be busy being the Sam Walton of superheros.

Thanks Grant. Really.

NFL 2010- Division Quick Picks

31 Aug

by Captain Oblivious

Can you feel it? Finally after seven long months America’s real pastime is back. I know it has been rough. All of us have had our down days feeling the hole in our manly (or womanly…I don’t discriminate) hearts for the lost love that calls itself football. Well pain no more brothers (and sisters) football is here with open arms.

Today I will go through my quick record predictions going by division. I am no expert nor do I claim to be so please Mr. Superfan out there take these with a grain of salt. If you think the Chiefs are a playoff team tell us why you think so. This is all open to the public. That’s why it’s the internet. Ok…..let’s roll!

AFC East

New England Patriots

2009 Record- 10-6

2010 Prediction- 11-5

Brady (as much as I hate him) is still a premier QB and he will be able to lead this young team to another division title.

New York Jets

2009 Record- 9-7

2010 Prediction- 10-6

One win improvement over last year but far short of the lofty Super Bowl dreams they dream of.

Miami Dolphins

2009 Record- 7-9

2010 Prediction- 8-8

Bill Parcells is slowly building a division contender, just not this year.

Buffalo Bills

2009 Record- 6-10

2010 Prediction- 5-11

C.J. Spiller will wow the fans in Buffalo but the others will bring them back to reality.

AFC North

Cincinnati Bengals

2009 Record- 10-6

2010 Prediction- 9-7

T.O. no longer does a team make. Even talking like Yoda that’s easy to understand.

Baltimore Ravens

2009 Record- 9-7

2010 Predictions- 12-4

Adding Bolden gives Flacco a full receiving core to go with their defense.

Pittsburgh Steelers

2009 Record- 9-7

2010 Prediction- 9-7

If Steelers go 2-2 in Big Ben’s suspension then 9 wins is a good season for the Bathroom Stall Bandit.

Cleveland Browns

2009 Record- 5-11

2010 Prediction- 5-11

Right now the Browns need a bad season so they can draft a good QB. I think Jake Delhomme’s retirement kicks in around November when he hits 65.

AFC South

Indianapolis Colts

2009 Record- 14-2

2010 Prediction- 12-4

The Colts may look to have lost a step but they may still be representing the AFC in the Super Bowl.

Houston Texans

2009 Record- 9-7

2010 Prediction- 10-6

Schaub will pass for 8 million yards again and the Texans will take another step forward this year.

Tennessee Titans

2009 Record- 8-8

2010 Prediction- 8-8

Where last year’s 8-8 seemed like a miracle, this year will be a bit disappointing.

Jacksonville Jaguars

2009 Record- 7-9

2010 Prediction- 6-10

MJD will run all over the field on a forgettable team. What a shame.

AFC West

San Diego Chargers

2009 Record- 13-3

2010 Prediction- 11-5

The loss of LT will not be felt by this team. Rivers is taking over for Drew Brees, a quality QB but just missing a ring.

Denver Broncos

2009 Record- 8-8

2010 Prediction- 9-7

I wish I could say Tebow will make them 16-0 ( me being a huge Tebow fan) but alas it won’t.

Oakland Raiders

2009 Record- 5-11

2010 Prediction- 7-9

If Oakland can win 5 games with “Purple Drank” then Jason Campbell can surely add two wins to that.

Kansas City Chiefs

2009 Record- 4-12

2010 Prediction- 5-11

Hey an improvement is an improvement when you are the Chiefs.

NFC East

Dallas Cowboys

2009 Record- 11-5

2010 Prediction- 10-6

Dez Bryant not carrying pads will be the least of the Cowboy’s worries in Wade Phillips’ last year.

Philadelphia Eagles

2009 Record- 11-5

2010 Prediction- 10-6

That’s right another tie in the NFC East. Only this year the Eagles should get the tiebreaker.

New York Giants

2009 Record- 8-8

2010 Prediction- 9-7

The sleeping giant will keep hibernating for another year.

Washington Redskins

2009 Record- 4-12

2010 Prediction- 8-8

If McNabb can stay healthy a four game improvement should be a success for his first year.

NFC North

Minnesota Vikings

2009 Record- 12-4

2010 Prediction- 10-6

Favre’s last (maybe) season won’t seem as magical as last year.

Green Bay Packers

2009 Record- 11-5

2010 Record- 12-4

The Aaron Rodgers coming out party is over. Now begins the real work. Winning the division.

Chicago Bears

2009 Record- 7-9

2010 Prediction- 6-10

Grossman Light will still not be the answer for the Bears.

Detroit Lions

2009 Record- 2-14

2010 Prediction- 4-12

Matthew Stafford showed some good improvement as the year progressed. Same should happen this year.

NFC South

New Orleans Saints

2009 Record- 13-3

2010 Prediction- 11-5

Playoffs yes. Super Bowl repeat….no.

Atlanta Falcons

2009 Record- 9-7

2010 Prediction- 10-6

A new year brings a more experienced Matt Ryan. Falcons fans should be excited.

Carolina Panthers

2009 Record- 8-8

2010 Record- 8-8

Hi were Carolina remember us? No? Ok we understand.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

2009 Record- 3-13

2010 Prediction- 4-12

2002 was sooo long ago.

NFC West

Arizona Cardinals

2009 Record- 10-6

2010 Prediction- 9-7

Kurt Warner left a huge hole that can not be filled by Matt Leinart. Derek Anderson gets them 9 wins. Leinart….6.

San Francisco 49ers

2009 Record- 8-8

2010 Record 9-7

49ers will win this weak division. If I am a 49er fan a playoff appearance is more than I bargained for.

Seattle Seahawks

2009 Record- 5-11

2010 Prediction- 7-9

The Seahawks had a good draft and Pete Carroll’s run will be better than his first…but not by a lot.

St. Louis Rams

2009 Record- 1-15

2010 Prediction- 3-13

Hey triple the wins of last year with a rookie QB should seem like a win.

New Halo: Reach Trailer Delivers A Lot Of Covenant Father-less Homes.

30 Aug

by Captain Oblivious

Here is some more Halo commercial goodness that will make you sad there won’t be a Halo movie until people stop caring about Halo. Which means summer of 2021. I do believe I like this one more than the ODST trailer that was released. I just hope it’s not a curse like the last one with the commercial being awesome and the game completely disappointing me.
